Beetroot juice

FRESHY SQUEEZED BEETROOT JUICE (serves 2 to 3)

•    A thumbnail piece of raw ginger
•    1 small lime
•    1 green apple
•    1/2 small pineapple
•    1 medium beetroot

1.    Chop each item and process through a juicer. Stir the juice to mix in all the ingredients.
2.    The preferred juicer is a masticating juicer such as the Oscar, but all kinds of juicers will give you a delicious, healthy drink.

Beetroot juice has been shown consistently by research to increase time to exhaustion in endurance activities such as running and cycling. Beetroot contains chemicals called nitrates, which are good at dilating the blood vessels. So, not only is beetroot juice good for performance, but it’s great for long-term cardiovascular health, including regulation of blood pressure.
