Protein Power balls

Ingredients
•    I cup of mixed nuts
•    1 cup of mixed dried fruit (try to include apricots for the tart taste and raisins for the sweetness)
•    6 large fresh (or rehydrated) dates with 80ml of purified water
•    1 heaped tablespoon of maca powder
•    1 heaped tablespoon of hemp powder
•    Shredded coconut or cinnamon or cacao powder or carob powder or sesame seeds or poppy seeds or flax seeds or finely chopped blanched almonds

Method
1.    Soak the fresh dates in the filtered water for 8-10 minutes.
2.    In a food processor, using an S blade, chop the nuts. Be careful not to over process them because the oils will be released and they can become mushy - you still want the crunch.
3.    Remove and place into a bowl.
4.    Process the dried fruit. If some of the fruits are very hard and have possibly been over dried (eg. dried apricots, nectarines or figs), rather chop these by hand and add them into your fruit mix after processing.
5.    Remove and mix with the nuts.
6.    Process the dates and all the water until a jam like consistency.
7.    Then add the maca and hemp powders and process until thoroughly mixed.
8.    Stir this mixture in well with the nuts and dried fruit. The ingredients should be slightly wet and sticky. If not, add a few drops of purified water.
9.    Roll into small bite size balls between your palms.
10.    To prevent them from sticking, roll in either shredded coconut, cinnamon, cacao powder, carob powder, seeds or finely chopped or grated blanched almonds. Make sure the entire protein ball is covered.
11.    Store in the refrigerator until you require them as snack foods.
